Purpose<\/em><\/p><p>This study was carried out at five well locations where drilling had already commenced but where no results had yet been finalized. For each location, it is stated in advance and in writing whether producible oil is expected.<\/p><p>This document is not a summary of past work. It is a formal record kept at a time when the results were not yet available, so that it can be compared against the operator&#8217;s own drilling data once the results emerge.<\/p><p><em>2. Data Used<\/em><\/p><p>The following data were provided to us and used:<\/p><ul><li><p>The coordinates of geochemical samples taken from across the field and their associated laboratory results.<\/p><\/li><li><p>The API gravities of the oil produced from the nearest producing wells: 41 API for the field containing Wells 1, 2, 4 and 7; 32 API for the field containing Well 38.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p>The following were neither used nor requested:<\/p><ul><li><p>Seismic data of any type or extent.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Gravity, magnetic, magnetotelluric or resistivity surveys.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Satellite imagery or remote sensing data.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Interpretation reports produced by other exploration contractors.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p>A physical oil sample was requested but was not received by us. The analysis was completed without this sample.<\/p><p>The gravity of the oil (API 41 and 32) from the producing oil wells nearest to the test wells was communicated to us. FindR reached its conclusions using a sample from its existing Sample Bank with an API value close to these figures.<\/p><p><em>3. Findings<\/em><\/p><p><em>Field A \u2014 Wells 1, 2, 4 and 7<\/em><\/p><p>These four wells lie roughly along an East\u2013West line. The measured distances are 403 m between Wells 2 and 1, 404 m between Wells 1 and 7, and 638 m between Wells 7 and 4. Our classification differs between wells that are only a few hundred metres apart.<\/p><ul><li><p><em>Well 1 \u2014 Producible oil present.<\/em> This location lies within the most productive part of the reservoir. Compared with all other locations in this group, we expect a thicker pay zone, a higher production volume and a longer production life.<\/p><\/li><li><p><em>Well 7 \u2014 Producible oil present, but short-lived.<\/em> This location lies within the reservoir boundaries but very close to the outer limit, and the pay zone is thin. Our prediction is that the well will find and produce oil; however, it will not be a long-lived producer.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p>Since this is one of those well types where the operator&#8217;s commercial decision carries as much weight as the geology, we outline the process that may follow: in such wells, one of two outcomes generally occurs. Either the operator deems the pay zone too thin to justify additional expenditure and records the well as a &#8220;dry hole&#8221; even though oil was produced; or the operator absorbs the cost, produces what the well can deliver, and shuts it in once depleted. In either case, sustainable, long-term production is not expected from this location.<\/p><p>Had we been consulted before the location was finalized, we would have recommended shifting the location further south in order to reach a thicker section of the reservoir, or directional drilling southward from the existing surface location.<\/p><ul><li><em>Wells 2 and 4 \u2014 No producible oil.<\/em> Both locations fall entirely outside the oil reservoir. We expect no commercially producible oil at either, and we anticipate that both will be recorded as dry holes.<\/li><\/ul><p><em>Field B \u2014 Well 38<\/em><\/p><ul><li><em>Well 38 \u2014 No producible oil.<\/em> This location falls outside the reservoir. It is quite close to the reservoir (our analysis indicates a distance of 85 metres to the nearest reservoir boundary), but outside is outside, and no producible oil is expected at this location.<\/li><\/ul><hr \/><p><em>Figure 1 \u2014 Relative Positions, Field A<\/em><\/p><p>(Image)<\/p><p>Well positions are plotted to scale from the recorded coordinates. The distances shown are measured distances. The reservoir boundary has deliberately not been drawn here; the classification of each well is given in Table 1 below.<\/p><hr \/><p><em>4. The measured distances between the wells are given in full in Figure 1; it is the absolute positions and distances that carry the technical weight of these predictions.<\/p><p><em>5. How Verification Should Be Carried Out<\/em><\/p><p>The test is extremely simple. When the operator&#8217;s drilling results are available, they should be compared with Table 1 well by well. We do not request to be involved in this comparison, nor is there any need for it: the operator&#8217;s own data will determine the outcome.<\/p><p>Two of these predictions are particularly demanding, and we wish to draw attention to them:<\/p><ul><li><p>Wells 1, 7 and 2 lie approximately 400 metres from one another and have not been classified identically by us. A general assessment of the area could not produce such a result.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Well 38 has been placed 85 metres outside the reservoir. Should commercial quantities of oil be produced there, this prediction has failed, and we will state so plainly.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p>Results are expected within approximately 15 to 45 days.<\/p><p><em>6. Scope and Limitations<\/em><\/p><ul><li><p>FindR determines horizontal position. Depth is not a FindR output; where the expected section and depth are required, conventional measurements over the identified point are still necessary.<\/p><\/li><li><p>This study addresses whether producible oil is present at the stated locations. It is not a reserve estimate and does not substitute for well testing, reservoir characterization or production data.<\/p><\/li><li><p>The commercial fate of a marginal well such as Well 7 depends on the operator&#8217;s investment decision as well as on the geology. Rather than claiming to predict the decision itself, both possibilities have been set out above.<\/p><\/li><li><p>The detection method underlying this analysis is proprietary and is not disclosed.
